Burial will take place at 3:00 p. m. (CDT) at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Aaron Underdahl passed away the 1st week of May in Dickinson, ND. While he worked as a rehabilitation counselor in Jamestown ND from the mid-70’s to the mid-90’s, his biggest contribution was during his military service. Aaron served a tour of duty in Viet Nam in the Army as an enlisted man and later received a commission through National Guard OCS; retiring as a Lt. Colonel. Like so many soldiers of today, his sacrifices and accomplishments are not seen in this country. Besides Viet Nam, Aaron served in many ND National Guard positions, including the First Gulf War, Bosnia, Africa, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Locally, he took several stateside Federal Emergency Management and Corps of Engineer assignments for flood control in central ND. His early life started in Hebron ND with his parents, Alfred and Margery (Krueger) Underdahl and his brother, Lynn, on a family farm. Even after he left Hebron he would regularly bring his wife, Ardis (Riedlinger) and sons, Brian and Thane, back for visits. After retiring from the military, he and his wife moved back to Dickinson to be closer to Hebron and his parents. During their time together in Dickinson he loved to take cruises and road trips with his wife and their dog, Zoe. He is survived by his wife, Ardis; his brother, Lynn; sons, Brian and Thane; grandson, Nikola; and lifelong friend, Richard O’Connor.
