Aaron joined the angels on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Med Center One, Bismarck, surrounded by his family after an amazing battle with cancer. Aaron Paul Winckler was born July 22, 1932 at Bluegrass, ND, the son of John and Katie (Nagel) Winckler. He grew up and attended the Bluegrass School. As a young man, he worked construction on the Garrison Dam in 1950 and PV Elevator in Hebron in 1952. Aaron worked at the Hebron Brickyard from 1953 to 1955. On October 1, 1954 Aaron was married to Ruth Swoboda at Hebron. To this union, Daryl, Sandra, Marsha and SusAnn were born. They moved to the family farm and operated it for the next 25 years. In 1978 Aaron started Winckler Trucking and operated it until 2001. His son still operates it today. After retiring, they continued to make New Salem their home. Aaron was an adored husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He lit up the room with his smile whenever he saw each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Aaron especially enjoyed spending quality time with his family.
