A Funeral service for Adela Kitzan, 94, of Mandan, formerly of Hebron, will be 11:00 a. m. CST, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Hebron with Pastor David Ling officiating. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery in Hebron.
Visitation for Adela will be 10:30 to 11:00 a. m. CST, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Hebron.
Adela passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Inc. in Bismarck, ND.
Adela Krein was born on the family farm south of Antelope, ND, on August 16, 1918, the daughter of John and Mary (Koch) Krein. She was raised and attended Country Heart River District School in rural Antelope, proudly receiving her GED at the age of 54. On October 20, 1936, Adela was married to Benjamin Kitzan in Hebron, ND at the minister’s home. To this union, a son, Harvey was born. The family farmed and ranched north of Hebron. After retiring from the farm in 1969, they moved to Mandan, ND. Adela worked as a maid at the Lewis & Clark and 7 Seas Motels, as well as a housekeeper at the Bismarck State Capital. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and she was an excellent cook and baker. She also found enjoyment in spending time with family and friends. Adela was also a member of First Baptist Church of Hebron.
Adela is survived by her grandchildren, Brent Kitzan and Kandace McLaughlin, both of Bismarck; step-grandson, Kevin (Deb) Selby of Bismarck; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Art Krein of Dickinson and Isadore (Rose) Krein of Glen Ullin and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin; son, Harvey; sisters, Viola Schmidt and Vivian Burkhardt Miller; brothers, Howard and Leo Krein.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Chrurch of Hebron.
