Adeline Brandner was born April 6, 1926 on the family farm in Hettinger County, the daughter of John and Katie (Stradinger) Brandner. She grew up and attended Wagendorf Country School southeast of New England through the eighth grade. After her schooling, Adeline continued to work on her parents’ farm. On August 6, 1950, Adeline and Clayton “Fats” George Bender were united in marriage at Peace Lutheran Church in Regent, ND. To this union Clyde and Bruce were born. Together, they farmed southeast of New England where they raised their children. In 1959, the family moved into New England where they have made their home since. Adeline loved her dogs; especially Toby and Sally, baking, crocheting, completing word search puzzles, and reading novels. She especially loved watching her children and grandchildren compete in all their sporting activities. Adeline was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; keeping up with all their games. She spent many hours cooking and catering with Marilyn Jeske and was known for her kuchen, lefse and her famous brownies that her grandchildren loved. She was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church and the downtown coffee club. Adeline is survived by her two sons, Clyde (Suzanne) and Bruce (Judy) both of New England; five grandchildren, Jon (Lori) Jung, Betsy (Doug) Madler, Branigan Bender, Jordyn Bender (fiancee’, Jake Mason), and Brady Bender; four great-grandchildren, Drew Madler, Emily Madler, Elijah Jung and Gabrielle Jung; and a special friend, Gilbert Stenmoen. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katie Brandner; husband, Clayton Bender; and sisters, Ida Strom, Edna Jorstad, Freda Brandner & her infant twin sister, Lydia, and Lila Stenmoen.
