Funeral Mass for Adeline Thomas, 87, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, May 7, 2011 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Jim Braaten celebrating. Burial will be in St. Patrick?s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation for Adeline will be from 11:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Friday, May 6, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a Rosary and Vigil Service taking place at 5:00 p. m. Adeline passed away May 4, 2011 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. Adeline Marie Gress was born August 15, 1923 in Gladstone, the daughter of Josephine (Hermes) and Raphael ?Ray? Gress, Sr. She grew up and attended schools in Gladstone, graduating from high school in 1939. Adeline came to Dickinson where she attended Dickinson State University. In 1949, Adeline married Ray Torgerson. In 1953, the couple moved to Parshall, ND. While living in Parshall, Ray farmed and Adeline dealt in antiques. Ray and Adeline moved back to Dickinson in 1973. Ray passed away in 1976. In 1979, Adeline married Dale Thomas who passed away in 2001. After Dale?s death, Adeline continued to make Dickinson her home. She has made her home at Hawks Point since July of 2009. Adeline enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cards and bingo. She was a member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Adeline is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Bill) Hadel of Leawood, KS; her step-son, Bob (Bea) Thomas of Dickinson; one brother, Ray (Jenny) Gress Jr. of Rapid City, SD; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one special nephew, Mark (Ruth) Gress of Dickinson and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands? Ray Torgerson and Dale Thomas; one son, Donavon Torgerson; her parents, Josephine and Ray Gress; and three sisters, Frances (Sister Gabriella) Gress, Elvira Gress Schackelford and Marie Gress Halbert.
