Agnes passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Agnes V. Dvorak was born January 23, 1919, to Wencel and Virginia (Tuhy) Dvorak. She grew up and attended country school in the Manning area. Due to the sudden death of her mother, Agnes became the primary caregiver for her siblings at the age of nine. She continued to help on the farm for a number of years. On October 23, 1939, Agnes married Charles V. Dvorak at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec. The couple made their home on the farm southeast of Manning near the Emerson community. It was there they raised their family, two sons, Robert and Richard, and three daughters, Edith, Susan and Sandy. Agnes and Charles made their living on the farm until they built a new home in 1977 near the farm. Agnes retired to town several years after Charles passed away and spent nearly 20 years living independently in her home. Agnes loved gardening, cooking, making noodles, picking native berries, fishing and dancing to old-time music. She was a very giving person and no one ever left her house hungry. Agnes especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was proud to be a caregiver for her brother, Clement, for more than 46 years and their hired man, Charlie Kubas, for 26 years. She was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the St. Ann?s Altar Society. Agnes is survived by her sons, Robert (Elaine) Dvorak, Dickinson; and Richard (Luella) Dvorak, Manning; daughters, Edith (Ludwig) Meduna, Dickinson; Susan (Tom) Knopik, Gladstone; and Sandy (Leonard) Meduna, Dickinson; step-sister Mary (Laudie) Kadrmas, Dickinson; sister-in-law Dorothy (Charlie I. ) Dvorak, Dickinson; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
