Agnes Fisher was born March 17, 1918 to George and Mary (Zelinsky) Burian. She grew up in the Fayette and Killdeer area. Agnes attended the Hartman grade school and then spent 2 years in Oregon with the Evoniuk family and returned to ND and graduated from Killdeer High School. Following graduation she went to work for the Meyer family near Medora, ND.
Agnes loved music and dancing and met Willard (Bud) Fisher at a dance and were married on February 27, 1940 in Wibaux, MT. To this union they were blessed with 5 children: Barry, Mary Ann, Faye, Gayle (Effie) and Jeff. Together they raised their family on the Fisher Family Ranch south of Fayette, ND.
Agnes was a hard worker. She woke up to milk the cows, tend the garden and then butcher a few chickens for dinner. Anyone visiting the Fisher Ranch was always welcome to the table. Agnes loved to read and had a strong interest in preserving history. She spent time volunteering at the Dunn County Historical Society, was a charter member of the Friendly Homemaker’s Club and was also a 4-H leader. Bud and Agnes shared many good times and memories with neighbors Laudie and Milly Sadowsky and Dave and Irene Franchuk. Agnes always preferred to be outside and loved to ride her horse, Katie. Her last horse ride was at the age of 80. She loved to go Juneberry picking and her Juneberry pies were known to bring top dollar at the Grassy Butte Hunter’s supper. Agnes enjoyed feeding the birds and loved watching them from her kitchen and living room windows. She also welcomed the deer and turkeys into her yard during the winter months and was known to have great conversations with the turkeys. But her greatest love in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
