Funeral Mass for Agnes D. Halstead, 87, of Dickinson is Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, ND. Burial will be in the St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday, September 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary and Vigil at 7:30 p.m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson
Agnes passed away Sunday, September 7, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson.
Agnes was born on June 22, 1916 on the family ranch in the Gorham area, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Martin) Kessel. She grew up and attended schools in the Belfield area. Agnes was married to Gerald Halstead in Glendive on June 22, 1941. They made their home in Glendive where they raised their son, David.
Agnes worked in the healthcare industry for many years. She worked in Glendive and Salem, OR, later moving back to Glendive. Agnes moved to Dickinson to help care for her mother and has remained here since. She operated the Rancher Motel for several years before her retirement.
Agnes loved to can fruit and vegetables which she shared with her friends and family.
Survivors include, her son, David (Rita) Halstead, Dickinson, two grandchildren, Shereen (Mike) McMahon and Kim (Dave) Blascoe, two great-grandchildren, Jordyn McMahon and Madison Blascoe; two brothers, Alois (Dorothy) Kessel, Dickinson, Nic (Goldie) Kessel, Belfield; four sisters: Mary Olinger, Richardton, Angeline (Harry) Romine, Agatha (Floyd) Higgins, and Florence Boelow all of Portland, OR. Five brothers, Fred, Ignatios, George, Leo and Richard, preceded her in death.
