Agnes Hansen, 88, Dickinson, died Sunday, December 7, 2003 at St. Luke?s Home, Dickinson. Funeral services will be 10 a. m. Friday, December 12, 2003 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Revs. Pat Higgins and Steve Tangen, officiating. Interment will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 5:30 p. m. Visitation will continue Friday at the church one hour prior to the service. Agnes Marie Hansen was born October 14, 1915 in Valley City to Herman and Ingeborg (Remmem) Hansen. She moved to Dickinson with her family when she was a few years old. Agnes was a lifetime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and attended Sunday School and Luther League. She served as Sunday School Treasurer and attended bible classes and worship every Sunday. She attended Dickinson Public Schools, except for the last year, she graduated from Mandan High School in 1933. After high school, Agnes worked at the Dickinson Public Library, starting as a part-time position, working her way up to Assistant Librarian. She retired after 38 years of service. Working with people and books made her life interesting. Agnes enjoyed reading, handwork, baking, gardening and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Agnes is survived by: her sister, Ethel (Henry) Hanssen, Dickinson; nieces, Grace (Garland) Gotoski, Laura (Mark) Carlson, Judith Hanssen; nephews, John (Carol) Hanssen, David (Beth) Hanssen, Paul (Miskey) Hanssen; great-nieces, Amy Hanssen, Anna (Caleb) Tester, Catherine (Jeremy) Taylor, Sarah (Loy) Lewis, Patricia Hanssen, Abby Carlson; great-nephews, Benjamin Hanssen, Stephen Hanssen, Scott Carlson and three great-great nephews, Eli Lewis, Aiden Lewis and David Tester. She was preceded in death by: her parents and one brother, Herbert Hansen. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: St. Luke?s Home, Heartland Hospice, or donor?s choice.
