Funeral Services for Aino Oleson, 105, of Camp Crook, SD will be 1:00 p. m. on Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Little Missouri Lutheran Church at Capitol, MT with Rev. Susan Fox officiating. Interment will follow in the Capitol Cemetery, Rural Harding County, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Aino passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Dahl Memorial Healthcare in Ekalaka, MT. Aino Oleson was born on March 5, 1905, in Lead, SD the daughter of August and Mary (Ojala) Waisanen. She attended country school at the Holcomb School and later attended the Spearfish Normal School where she earned her teaching certificate. Aino taught school in Harding County before her marriage to Oliver Oleson on January 8, 1927. Aino and Oliver made their home on the ranch south of Camp Crook. Oliver passed away on December 11, 1989, and Aino remained on the ranch until 1992, when she moved into the Hickory House in Spearfish. In 2000, she spent a few months at Dahl Memorial Healthcare Nursing Home in Ekalaka recovering from a broken hip. After her recovery from her hip injury, she moved to the Buckholz Assisted Living in Belle Fourche. Late in 2006, she spent a few months at the Foothills Assisted Living in Sturgis. In May of 2007, Aino moved into Dahl Memorial Healthcare Nursing Home in Ekalaka where she has made her home until her passing. Aino was a member of the Little Missouri Lutheran Church at Capitol and was very active in the Ladies Aid. She was also active in the Community Birthday Club and a past member of the Cow Bells. Aino loved the country way of life where she kept busy canning the produce she grew in her garden. She enjoyed raising chickens; churning butter and having fresh cream for the strawberries Oliver grew in his strawberry patch. Aino always made her own fresh bread until she left the ranch. Most important to Aino was her family. Aino was a true pioneer of the western South Dakota prairie. Aino is survived by her two sons, Oliver LeRoy (Ester) Oleson of Camp Crook, SD and Charles LaVerne (Ella) Oleson of Beulah, WY; four grandchildren, George Oleson, Gerald (Jolene) Oleson, Tami (Al) White and Donny (Jennifer) Powell; ten great-grandchildren, Katelynn Elizabeth Oleson, Alex James Oliver Oleson, Christina Ann Oleson, Casey Jo Oleson, Jacob (Amada) Suliberes, Kimberly Powell, Amy Powell, Sky Powell, Nickkie Powell and Zion Powell; and two great-great-grandchildren, Devin Suliberes and Fernando Suliberes. Aino was preceded in death by her parents, August and Mary, her husband, Oliver and her siblings, Willie, Blanche, Hilma and LainaThe Oleson family requests memorials be made to the Little Missouri Lutheran Church at Capitol, MT.
