Albert Maxner

Albert Maxner, 94, Dickinson, formerly of New England, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a. m. Monday, May 17, 2004, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, New England, with Fr. Basil Atwell, OSB celebrating. Interment will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be held from 11 a. m. to 3 p. m. Sunday at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, 3:30 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. at St. Benedict?s Health Center, and will continue at 5 p. m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in New England. There will be a rosary and prayer service at 7 p. m. at St. Mary?s. Visitation will continue Monday one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Albert Maxner was born September 8, 1909, in Hume Township, southeast of Amidon to Luella (Langer) and John Maxner. Albert married Margaret (Fitterer) on September 23, 1941, in New England. A nephew, Rick Wandler, became a part Al and Margaret?s family in 1942. Al was a major benefactor to St. Mary?s School Foundation and supported many missions and organizations throughout his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Elks. He served for 24 years as township supervisor, and terms on the Slope Electric board, FHA board, and community committeeman for ASC. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and bowling. He bowled until he was 90. Albert is survived by one brother, Stanley (Patricia) Maixner, Dickinson, and one sister, Luella (Walt) Jacobs, New England, brother-in-law, Chuck (Arlene) Griffin, Rapid City, SD; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; nephew, Rick Wandler, brothers and sisters, Rosella (John) Wandler, Van (Luella) Maxner, Margaret (John Ott) Hollenbeck, Lois (Ike) Nichols, Dick (Laura) Maixner and Mildred Griffin.
