Funeral services for Albert H. Uhler are 10:00 a. m. , Monday, June 13, 2011 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will be 1:00 p. m. CDT, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the North Dakota Veteran?s Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Visitation for Albert will be from 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p. m. Albert passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson. Albert Henry Uhler was born May 27, 1927, in Bismarck, the son of Frank and Lillie (Daniel) Uhler. He grew up and attended school in Beulah, graduating from Beulah High School in 1945. In May of 1945, Al enlisted in the United States Navy where he served until being honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to North Dakota where he began his college career and received his Business Degree from the University of North Dakota. While attending UND he was a member of ROTC and later received the rank of Captain in the Air Force Reserve. Al then began working for Firestone Tire Company in Devils Lake, ND. It is here he met and married his wife of 53 years, Barbara ?Bobbi? Heintz on November 24, 1956. To this union four children were born: Marcie, Mark, Marla and Michael. In 1956, Al began his employment with Farmers Union Insurance working in Devils Lake, Bismarck and eventually settling in Dickinson in 1958. In 1963, he became the district manager, a position he held until December 1992, when he retired. Al enjoyed golfing and working on his computer. He was very active in AARP serving as the county coordinator, as well as member of the Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus and Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He served on the Dickinson Board of Adjustment, and the Building Committee for the West River Community Center. His love in life, were his grandchildren and attending their activities throughout North Dakota, Minnesota and California. Al and Bobbie also loved traveling. Al is survived by his wife, Barbara of Dickinson; two sons, Mark (Sarah) Uhler of Glyndon, MN and Mike (Karen) Uhler of Bismarck; two daughters, Marla (Chuck) Gleave of Arcata, CA and Marcie (Monty) Seagren of Bismarck; one sister, Bernita Fleek of Pahrump, NV; 11 grandchildren, Katie (Jeremy) Greenstein, Emily Seagren, Amee? Uhler, Bennett Uhler, Ellyse Uhler, Taylor Gleave, Ryan Gleave, Chad Gleave, Christopher Uhler, Casey Uhler and Jackson Uhler and one great-grandchild, Ashlyn Greenstein. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and James. In lieu of flowers, Family suggests memorials to Trinity High School.
