Alexander passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Sunset Drive – A Prospera Community in Mandan.
Alexander was born April 13, 1931 in Dunn County, ND, the son of Andrew P. and Eva (Walter) Hushka. He grew up on the family farm north of New Hradec and attended country school near the farmstead. Alex was a hard worker all his life and after completing his education he continued to work alongside his parents for many years. When he retired, Alex moved to Dickinson with his parents. It was during this time that he met and married Margaret Arnold. Together, the couple lived at Pioneer Haven.
Alex loved music. He was a skilled accordion, piano, and banjo player and spent many hours entertaining residents and visitors at the area nursing homes and Dairy Barn. He enjoyed spending time outdoors walking; especially when he moved to Dickinson, playing cards & bingo, and passing on German traditions to his nieces and nephews. Alex was very grateful for the compassionate care he received over the years from his many caretakers.
Alex is survived by his siblings, Sr. Andre Hushka, OSB of Bismarck, Genevieve Knopik-Franchuk of Dickinson, Tillie (John) Kovash-Lamey of Livingston, MT, Regina Roller of Rapid City, SD, Veronica Rue of Milwaukee, WI, Andy (Florence) Hushka of Trenton, TX, and Eva Rue of Sparks, NV; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; step-daughter, Arlene Koller; parents, Andrew and Eva; sister, Cecelia Dukart; and brothers-in-law, Stephen Knopik, Ben Roller, Roland Rue, Jerry Rue, Louie Kovash, Charles Franchuk and Bob Dukart.
