A Funeral Mass for Ray Meduna, 68, of Dickinson, will be 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
Visitation for Ray will be 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, August 13, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Vigil service being held at 7:00 p.m.
Ray passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Medcenter One in Bismarck, ND.
Alexander “Ray” Meduna was born March 17, 1944 at Belfield, ND, the son of Alexander and Pauline (Roller) Meduna. He grew up and attended schools in South Heart, graduating from High School there. He enrolled at Dickinson State University and earned his teaching degree. Ray enlisted in the US Air Force and served a short time before he received a hardship discharge. He returned to the family farm in Stark County where he began farming. In 1970, he was married to Elaine Fisher and to this union, one child was born, Robin Elaine. Along with farming and raising their daughter, Ray taught at various schools. He also worked in the oilfield and retired as a driller. Ray was a proud member of the NRA. In his younger years he enjoyed riding horses. He enjoyed being a grandpa and having the kids around as much as possible.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin (Craig) Fettig, Gladstone, ND; ND; three sisters: Helen (Eddie) Kadrmas, Dickinson, ND, Ethel (Charles) Weimer, Apple Valley, MN and Jean (Mark) Silbernagel, Minot, ND; his mother-in-law, Alice Fisher, Marysville, WA, a brother-in-law, John Kubischta, Dickinson, a granddaughter, Elaine Alexis Fettig and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine; his father-in-law; and two sisters, Gladys Kubischta and Martha Renner.
