Funeral Mass for Alice Baar, 89, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Saturday February 20, 2016 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Shannon Lucht celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visitation for Alice will be from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Friday, February 19, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil Service being held at 7:00 p. m. Alice passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson. Alice Biel was born March 16, 1926 in Stark County, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Neurohr) Biel. She grew up and attended country school through the eighth grade. She met and married Albert Baar on March 30, 1948 in Lefor. To this union 10 children were born; Melvin, Karen, Wanda, Dean, Shelly, Denice, Donnel, Tina, Mark and Lenore. Together, they purchased their own farm south of Gladstone where they worked together and raised their family. The couple retired and moved to Dickinson in October of 1981. Alice volunteered at the ARC and was a member Christian Mothers of St. Thomas Parish, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary of Gladstone, and the Senior Citizen Center in Gladstone. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, watching the Minnesota Twins Baseball, and the Molly B. Polka Show. Alice always made sure that everyone’s birthday was celebrated with cake, ice cream and frozen raspberries from her garden. Her family was her life!Alice is survived by her children, Melvin Baar of Dickinson, Karen (Jene) Hasby of New Town, Wanda (Vern) Hoechst of Bismarck, Dean (Paulette) Baar of Gladstone, Shelly (Verdean) Meidinger of Dickinson, Denice (Carl) Anderson of Bismarck, Donnel Pechtl of Bismarck, Tina (Mike) Kerkman of Dickinson, Mark (Kayleen) Baar of Dickinson, Lenore (Dave) Witte of Regent; brothers, Nick (Betty) Biel of Lefor, Emery Biel of Lefor; sisters, Dorothy Kolling of Dickinson, and Rosalie Hunke of Richardton; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth; husband, Albert; brothers, Tony Biel and Adam Biel; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
