Alice was born March 16, 1915 in Springfield, South Dakota, the oldest daughter of Eggie and Elizabeth (DeGroot) Petterson and one of seven children. At a young age, Alice?s family moved to Dallas, South Dakota where she attended country school. The family then moved to Winner, South Dakota in 1932. Alice met the love of her life, Louie Breding, May 19, 1933. The young couple was soon married on July 24, 1933. They lived on a ranch outside of Winner where they started their family together. In 1951, the family moved to the Ekalaka area to ranch with their eight children. Here the family grew by three more children. The family built and moved into a new home in 1970 where they enjoyed electricity and running water for the first time. Louie and Alice made their home on the family ranch for 50 years until they moved into Fallon Medical Complex. Louie and Alice celebrated 72 amazing years of marriage. Alice was a child at heart and enjoyed celebrating Easter with her grandchildren. The many years on the farm gave Alice an appreciation and joy of taking care of all the animals, especially the chickens and geese. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening, angel food cakes and cooking for her large family where anyone and everyone were welcome at her table. Most importantly though, Alice was a hard worker, her husband Louie?s ?Right-Hand Man? and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
