She attended country school in Kennedy Township, later coming to New England where she graduated from high school in 1938. She worked in Wisconsin for one year, then returned to New England where she married Stanley Rafferty on September 19, 1939. To this union eight children, Dale, Verne, Patricia, William, Nancy, Murry, Lee and Carrie were born. Stanley and Alice raised their children while farming in Havelock.
