Alice Sandman

Alice Sandman, 87, passed away September 23, 2015 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson. In accordance with Alice’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Her funeral service and burial will take place at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Alice Ayame Fujiwara was born January 9, 1928 in Waialua, Hawaii, the daughter of Masayoshi and Tsuge (Fujiyama) Fujiwara. She graduated from Waialua High school in 1946. Alice attended college in Tokyo, Japan where she met and married Darrel “Sandy” Sandman on March 1, 1953. To this union three children were born: Sandra, Mark and Bradford. Alice worked as an accountant for the Air Force Civil Service for 30 years. The family relocated many times until Sandy retired from the Air Force. Sandy and Alice then moved from Minot, North Dakota to San Antonio, Texas where they resided for 30 years and Alice retired from Civil Service. After Sandy’s death, Alice moved to Dickinson where she has lived ever since. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and knitting. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson, North Dakota. Alice is survived by her three children, Sandra (Bruce) Behm of Fargo, ND, Mark (Cindy) Sandman of Dickinson, ND, Bradford (Beth) Sandman of Georgetown, TX; grandchildren, Justin (Katina) Behm of Fargo, ND, Cody (Amanda) Behm of Lisbon, ND, Lucas (Jenna) Sandman of Fargo, ND, Jenna (Matt) Greenslit of Apple Valley, MN, Keegan Sandman of Austin, TX, Colton (Laura) Sandman of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren, Owen Behm, Talan and Lucy Greenslit, Evan and Avery Sandman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Masayoshi and Tsuge; husband, Darrel “Sandy;” and siblings Margaret, Gary and Edward Fujiwara.
