A devout and fervent believer in the Holy Scripture, soft hearted but strong willed father, loving husband and dependable man, Mr. Alichala Salanje’s fighting zest for life will live on in time immemorial.
Born in the humble village of Chechimbende in Mongochi, Malawi on 5 September 1940, Mr. Alichala Salanjes’s upward mobility to the ranks of supervision clearly demonstrated God’s power to raise an individual from zero to hero. His charismatic leadership in the mines of Zimbabwe was remarkable as he served with diligence and resilience. He managed to impart his knowledge and skills to many youths during his tenure. Patience, humility and discipline were his highly cherished values which he successfully inculcated in his family and people around him. In 1996, the accumulated silica dust in his lungs from the mines, a condition which has led to his demise and ultimately his death on October 31, 2022.
Mr. Salanje’s conversion to the Christian faith in 1994 was a milestone in his spiritual journey. He served the Lord with meekness and solid dedication. Throughout his health struggles, he never wavered in his faith and confession to the risen Christ. His ability to stand firm in the Lord regardless of his deteriorating health is quite motivating. The legacy he has left shall live forever.
Mr. Salanje is survived by his wife Esnati; sons; daughters; grandchildren; and many children in the community whose lives were touched and transformed as a result of his sweet and courageous spirit.
Till we meet again, rest in grace Mr. Alichala Salanje.
