Allen C. Anderson, 77, Dickinson, died Friday, July 22, 2005 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral services are 11 a. m. , Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England, with Pastor Janel Kolar officiating. Interment will be in Medora Community Cemetery, Medora. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a Masonic service at 7 p. m. Allen Clayton Anderson was born July 12, 1928 to Anders Jacob Anderson and Addie Plumbley Hellickson Anderson in Beach, ND. He was raised in Billings County on a ranch south of Medora, ND. He attended school in Medora and graduated in 1947 from Belfield High School. He completed two years of college at Dickinson State Teacher?s College and worked for the North Dakota Highway Department during the summers. After college, he ran a service station and gift shop in Medora until he was elected Billings County Treasurer in 1952. In 1954, he moved to New England, ND to work at Citizens State Bank, which later became American State Bank. He worked there for 25 years until moving to Dickinson, ND in 1980 to work at American State Bank. His banking career spanned 45 years, during which he worked in various capacities and was a mentor to many colleagues. He was the investment officer in his last years with the bank. He married Natalie Rowley in Wibaux, MT in 1954. Seven children were born to them. They later divorced and Allen raised the five oldest children. In 1972, he married Joyce Watawa in Minneapolis, MN. She died in 1983. On May 27, 1988, he married Irene Luptak at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson, ND. Allen was a member of the First Congregational – UCC Church, the York Rite Mason, El Zagal Shrine, and the Dickinson Elks. His favorite pastime was traveling and he visited such places as Russia, China, Australia, Eastern Europe, and Scandinavia. He also traveled extensively in the United States and Canada. When he was fifty, Allen learned to ski saying, ?it?s all down hill from here?. Other interests included history, especially the Civil War and Native American. His hobbies included photography, coin and stamp collecting. He enjoyed wildlife and in his later years, made frequent trips to the Badlands to see the buffalo, wild horses, and elusive elk. He looked forward to family gatherings and visits from his children and grandchildren. Allen is survived by: his wife, Irene; four daughters, Elizabeth (Fred) Lusen, Coppell, TX, Sharon (Harold) Maershbecker, New England, ND, Gretchen Hill, Alexander, AR, Rosemarie Anderson, Alexander, AR; two sons, Norman (Joyce) Anderson, Elk City, OK, Robert (Karla) Anderson, Brighton, CO; twelve grandchildren, Stephanie (Nathan) Rydalch, Shawn (Heather) Maershbecker, Shad Maershbecker, Jacob Anderson, Gina Anderson, Miranda Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Katherine (Brian) Singleton, Clayton Anderson, Mark Anderson, Summer Anderson, Jeremy Anderson; three great grandchildren, Stockton Rydalch, Satchel Rydalch, London Maershbecker; one half brother, Calvin Hellickson; three step children, James (Jane) Luptak, Duane (Marilyn) Luptak, Carol (Kent) Rogne; two step grandchildren, Steven Rogne, and Robert Luptak. Allen was preceded in death by: his son, Lester Anderson, second wife, parents, and five half brothers: Ronald Hellickson, Everett Hellickson, Richard Hellickson, Dale Hellickson, Leon Hellickson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
