Allen ?Swede? Klungtvedt, 84, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2003 at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson. Allen was born April 25, 1919 at Berthold, ND, the son of Anton and Christina Ness Klungtvedt. He grew up and attended schools at Berthold. Allen was inducted into WW II on March 27, 1941 and served in the US Army. He served at Normandy, Northern France & Central Europe and received many awards including: Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal and Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged on October 20, 1945. Allen loved his country and throughout his life was proud to display his patriotism. Allen was married to Lena Sigl at 1947. She left to be with the lord in November of 1953. Allen was married to Gertrude Hartwig in April of 1955. She went to be with the Lord in January 1961. Allen worked for Northwestern Bell from 1945 until 1980 when he retired as a linesmen. After his retirement he spent many enjoyable hours with his friends who were very special to him. Allen was an avid fisherman and bird hunter. His greatest love was for his grandchildren. Allen was a lifetime member of the Eagles, American Legion, KC Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include a son, Ed (Michele) Klungtvedt, Morrison, CO; three daughters: Shirley (Dave Davies) Klungtvedt, Minot, ND, Charlene (Clint) Wagner, Eugene, OR and Linda (Randy Kiefer) Gunwall, Dickinson; stepchildren: Rita (Duane) King Wolf, Dickinson and Wayne (Rochelle) King, Bellevue, NE; five grandchildren: Marcy, Joey, Josh, Aubrey and Dustin; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. His wives, Lena and Gertrude, his parents, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
