A Rosary and Vigil Service for Allene Loraas, 89 of Halliday will be 4:30 p. m. Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Dickinson with Father Jerry Ruelle, OSB, celebrating. A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a. m. Thursday, March 17, 2005 at the St. James Catholic Church at Plains, MT. Burial will be follow in the Plains Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 13, 2005 from 11:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in DickinsonAllene passed away Friday, March 11, 2005 at Hilltop Home of Comfort in Killdeer. Allene was born April 8, 1915 at New England, ND, the daughter of Francis Thomas and Mary (Stewart) Gillespie. She grew up and attended schools in New England and later graduated from high school in Linesville, PA in 1933. Allene attended Nursing College in Pennsylvania and graduated as a registered nurse. While visiting her sister in Dunn Center, she met Harold Loraas. They were united in marriage on June 19, 1939 at Linesville, PA. They returned to the McGregor Camp on Ft. Berthold Reservation where they ranched. In 1949 they moved to a ranch south of Golden Valley where they stayed until 1955 when they purchased a ranch at Camas Prairie near Plains, MT. Allene was very active throughout her life with the ranch operations. After the death of Harold in 1979, she continued to maintain the ranch. In 1989 her grandson, Zane joined her and together they operated it until her health failed in 2004. At that time she moved to her daughter?s home in Dunn County, ND. Allene enjoyed her family, reading, and having friends and neighbors over for dinner. Her love and interest was always her concern for the ranch. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Allene (Andrew) Voigt of Halliday, ND; two sons: Jon Mark (Teri) Loraas of Hot Springs, MT and Patrick Harold (Dawn) Loraas of Vashon, WA; Nine grandchildren: Harold (Patricia) Voigt of Halliday, ND, Zane (Alice ) Voigt of Plains, MT, Lee (Mary) Voigt of Spiritwood, ND, Armin (Lori) Voigt of Kuna, ID, Christopher Loraas of Missoula, MT, Harold (Sarah) Loraas of Missoula, MT, Shad (Tammy) Loraas of San Diego, CA, Dane Loraas of Vashon, WA and Cooper Loraas of Vashon, WA; two step great-grandchildren: Coltt & Chelsi Gullickson and seven great-grandchildren: Anna, Meghan, Kylee, Rachel, Reine and Owen Voigt and Garrett Loraas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters: Evelyn Connolly and an infant twin sister, Alice.
