Alma Hovland

Funeral Services for Alma Hovland, 95, of Dickinson, formerly of Watford City and New England, will be at 11 a. m. , Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with Rev. Tim Voth officiating. Interment will be in Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be from 8:00 a. m. to 10:00 a. m. Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Alma passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at St. Luke?s Home, Dickinson. Alma Nielsen was born December 3, 1911 in New England, ND to Christian and Johanna (Nelson) Nielsen. She graduated from New England High School and attended Dickinson State College and received her degree in nursing. She married Henry Hovland. She worked for the cooperative store in Regent, then the Shriner?s Hospital for Children in Portland, OR. In later years, she worked as a senior companion to elderly people. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and reading. She is survived by: her son, Ray Hovland, Watford City; a daughter-in-law, Kay Hovland, Fargo; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: parents; two daughters; two sons; six sisters; four brothers; one grandson; one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.
