Alvin Kenneth Farstveet was born September 2, 1924 in Missoula, MT, the oldest son born to Knute and Elsie (Geyer) Farstveet. He grew up on the family farm east of Beach, attending school in town and graduating from Beach High School. Following graduation, Alvin enlisted in the US Navy and worked as a machinist on a submarine tender. He served in the Pacific Theatre in the Marshall Islands. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Beach and worked at Schultz Chevy Garage for several years before working at Beach Farmers Union. It was during this time that Alvin met Marjorie Halstead and the two were married on December 28, 1950. The couple and their daughter moved to Bowman where Alvin managed Bowman Farmers Union Oil Company for nearly 20 years. He worked as a city policeman for a short while before Alvin and Marge moved back to Beach so they could farm the Halstead land.

Alvin was a talented woodworker who took pride in his work. He played baseball and football in high school, flew airplanes, bowled, hunted, and golfed throughout his life. He and Marge traveled often with friends to find warm golfing weather during the cold North Dakota winters. Alvin enjoyed farming with his brothers! He loved his grandchildren dearly and was very proud of their accomplishments.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, KayAnn and Bart Fisher of Bowman; grandchildren, Alex and Emily Fisher, Rapid City, SD, Wade and Thu Fisher, East Lansing, MI, Andrew and Ashley Fisher, Bowman, ND; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Paxton, Nora, Gavin, Bryce, Aidyn, Tatem, Morgan, and Lily; siblings, Craig Farstveet of Winemucca, NV, Sharon Dietz of Beach, Rex and Myrna Farstveet of Dickinson, Gary and Marge Farstveet of Beach; and brother-in-law, Vernon Ward of Omaha, NE.
