Funeral Mass for Alvin Krogh, 90, of Dickinson, formerly of Fairfield, ND, will be 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick?s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Monday, July 14, , followed by a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, 45 4th Ave. W. , Dickinson, ND. Alvin passed away Friday, July 11, 2008 at his home in Dickinson. Alvin was born the son of Julius and Elnora (Martinussen) Krogh on December 27, 1917 at Snow in Billings County, ND. He attended the Snow School in Billings County through the 8th grade. As a youth, Alvin worked for neighboring farmers and served 11 months in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1932. In 1937, he moved to Minnesota and worked as a farm hand and later bought his employer?s farm. He returned home to help his mother in 1939. On January 17, 1944, he married Marionette Mahlmann at St. Edward?s Catholic Church, Fayette, ND. They lived on the Mahlmann homestead during their first year of marriage and moved to their own farm in Billings County in April, 1945. Alvin continued to farm and ranch until his retirement in 1983 when he moved to Dickinson. Alvin was the past chairman of the Billings County Planning and Zoning Commission; Fairfield Farmers Union Local; Fairfield Community Club; Belfield Farmers Union Elevator Board of Directors; temporary chairman for the Billings County Historical Society; member of Knights of Columbus 1515; Eagles Club; St. Anthony?s Club; LeDancer?s Dance Club; Scandinavian Ethnic Group; and Dickinson Hardanger Sons of Norway Lodge. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, visiting, gardening and growing roses. Alvin was a musician in a local band and a tinkerer. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it, even if he didn?t know them personally. His friends and neighbors were very important to him. He is survived by: his wife, Marionette; sons Leslie (Juanita) , Woodbridge, VA; Rodney (Margaret), Fairfield, ND; Anthony (Maarja), West Fargo, ND; daughters Aljean (Rodney) Remsing, Franktown, CO; Muriel (Gunvald) Neverdal, Dickinson, ND ; grandchildren Kevin (Deborah) Krogh, Manassas, VA; Eric (Katie) Krogh, Fairfax, VA; Tenley (Tom) Sommerfield, Parker, CO; Chad Remsing, Franktown, CO; Kristin (Garrett) Morel, Dickinson, ND; Lance (Vanessa) Krogh, Panhandle, TX; David Krogh, West Fargo, ND; Erin Krogh, West Fargo, ND; Allyson Krogh, West Fargo, ND; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great grandchild; a special daughter, Darlene Jelsing Krogh; a special son, John Krogh; 3 sisters in-law – Myrtle Krogh, Glendale, AZ; Gladys Spelevoy, Manning, ND; and Elizabeth Lundberg, Tacoma, WA; and many nieces and nephews. Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gerald, and all of his siblings. Family requests that honorariums be sent to Heartland Hospice, West Elementary (St. Patrick?s elementary) or the charity of your choice.
