Funeral Mass for Alvin Michael Schmitt, 53 of Page, AZ, formally of Mott, ND, will be 10:00 Saturday, November 12, 2005 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Jim Braaten celebrating. Burial, will follow in the Slope Cemetery in Mott. Military Rites by Dickinson Veterans Drill team. Visitation will be 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Friday, November 11, 2005 with Rosary and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel. Alvin passed away Sunday, November 6, 2005 at his home in Page, AZ. Alvin was born August 19, 1952 to Alphons and Regina (Meier) Schmitt. He grew up in the Mott, North Dakota area where he attended Mott Lincoln High School, and graduated in 1971. He then enlisted in the US Navy on March 25, 1972 and served until being honorably discharged on June 16, 1980. On December 1, 1979, Alvin married Mary Elizabeth Lange at Devils Lake, North Dakota. Alvin started working for the Bureau of Reclamation in 1980, and had worked in Montana, South Dakota, Idaho, Utah and Arizona. He was currently employed at the Glen Canyon Dam as a Power Plant Operator. He loved listening to music and recorded many music compilations for his collection. He also enjoyed hiking and fishing with his son, and was an avid walker. Alvin was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Page. Alvin is survived by his wife, Mary Schmitt, Page, Arizona; one daughter: Nadine Schmitt, Prescott, AZ; one son: Matthew Schmitt of Tempe, AZ; four sisters: Angela (Leo) Schatz of Dickinson, ND, Margaret (Marvin) Kuhn, of Dickinson, ND, Lucy (Roger) Wenko of Williston, ND and Isabel (Del) Rasch of Dickinson, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister: Janice Schmitt.
