A Funeral service for Alwina Dittus, 98, of Glen Ullin will be 10:00 a.m., (CST) Saturday, December 22, 2012 at First Congregational UCC in Glen Ullin with Pastor Marcy Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Glen Ullin Cemetery.
Visitation for Alwina will be 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (CST) Friday, December 21, 2012 at First Congregational UCC with a Prayer service being held at 4:00 p.m.
Alwina passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Marian Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin, ND.
Alwina Roth was born August 3, 1914, near Glen Ullin, the daughter of John and Wilhelmina (Zimmerman) Roth. She attended country school in Grant County. After school, she worked on the family farm with her parents. On November 16, 1933, Alwina was united in marriage to Herbert Dittus at her parent’s farm. The couple made their home southwest of Glen Ullin, where they farmed for a living and raised their family of seven children. In 1970, they sold the farm and moved into Glen Ullin. After Herbert passed away on September 8, 1983, Alwina continued to live at her home until she entered Marian Manor in 2007. She was a very determined spirit and a hardworking partner on the farm. Alwina loved quilting, crocheting, gardening, canning and baking her famous kuchen and pumpkin pie. No one left her house hungry. She especially loved her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her fun loving personality that always put a smile on the face of everyone she met.
Alwina is survived by her children, Vernon (Geraldine) Dittus of Almont, Marilyn (Pete) Krisanits of Dickinson, Melvin (Carol) Dittus of Miles City, MT, Larry (Peggy) Dittus of Hebron, Dalyla Dittus and Sandra Dittus of Glen Ullin, Ron (Darla) Dittus of St. Cloud, MN; 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Ida Sailer.
he is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; son, Kenneth; one grandson, Rob Dittus and great grandson, Bradley Dittus; parents; three brothers, August, Clarence and Robert Roth; and two sisters, Ella Sailer and Freida Staiger.
