Andrew Lee Dakken, known to everyone as Andy, age 27, of Mandan and formerly of Hebron, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Central Time on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Hebron with the Rev. David Ling, officiating. Military rites will be provided by Henry Biffert Post #100 of the American Legion. Burial will be in the Knife River Cemetery Hill on the Knife River Ranch, rural Golden Valley. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the church after 4:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Andy was born July 4, 1980 at Mayville, ND the son of Terry and Laurie (Viestenz) Dakken. The family moved to Hebron in 1982. Andy was raised at Hebron and educated at the Hebron Public School where he graduated in 1999. While in high school Andy worked at the Hebron Vet clinic. He entered the National Guard in 1997 and was on reserve until the summer of 2005. He attended Bismarck State College where he graduated with Honors. Andy began his work career with the Boilermakers in 2001, in 2003 he started working for Bobcat, and in May of 2006 his career path took him to Coteau Freedom Coal Mine in Beulah where he worked in dragline maintenance as a welder. In his spare time, Andy was an avid outdoors man, he loved hunting, and studying ammunition and ballistics. He was a member of the NRA, and the American Elk Foundation. On September 10, 2005 he married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca Wanner at Bismarck. Following marriage they lived at Mandan with their yellow lab Hank. They enjoyed horseback riding, and hunting on the ranch, and spending time with Hank. Andy was a hard worker and always ready to lend a helping hand where one was needed. Andy will be greatly missed by his wife Rebecca, Mandan; his parents: Terry and Laurie Dakken, Hebron, ND; his brothers: Josh (Trista), and their children Que and Aleya, Hebron, ND; Seth (Emily), and children Justice and Kadence, and his twin brother Brian and his fianc?e Cindy, and their son Wyatt, Mandan. He is also survived by his grand mothers Ruth Viestenz of Arthur, ND and Phyllis Dakken of Mayville, ND; his mother-in-law: Lois Wanner; his brothers-in-law: Adam (Paula) and Justin, all of Golden Valley. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Howard Viestenz, and Orville Dakken, and his father-in-law: Ron WannerOffciating: Rev.
