Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew Koch, 94, Belfield is Monday, September 1, 2003, 10:00 a. m. at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church with Father Shannon Lucht, celebrating. Interment will be at 1:30 p. m. in St. Joseph?s Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a rosary at 7:00 p. m. and Sunday from 9:00 a. m. to 3:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel continuing at 5:00 p. m. with a rosary and vigil at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, Belfield. Andrew passed away Thursday, August 28, 2003 St. Joseph?s Hospital, Dickinson. Andrew was born June 21, 1909 in Rural Dickinson, the son of Dennis and Catherine Fisher Koch. He grew up and attended a country school near South Heart. Andrew farmed on the family homestead with his father. He was married to Christine Hecker on February 28, 1933 at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, Belfield. To this union sixteen children were born. They continued to farm near South Heart until 1945 when they bought their present farm, three miles northwest of Belfield. Andrew continued farming there until he retired in 1970. They moved to Hungry Horse, MT where Andrew worked four years for his son, Andrew, Jr. on a guest ranch as a wrangler. He worked in Columbia Falls for Plum Creek Lumber Co. for eight years as a custodian before retiring. In 1994, after 25 years in Montana, they moved to Bowman. In 1996 they returned to Belfield to retire and have lived there since. Andrew was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of St. Bernard?s Catholic Church. He was a great woodworker, enjoyed fishing and hunting in the Montana Mountains. Survivors include his wife, Christine, Belfield; six sons: Arnold (Carol) Koch, Richfield, MN, Wilbert (Irene) Koch, Williston, ND, Andrew, Jr. (Carol) Koch, Columbia Falls, MT, Paul Koch, Creston, MT, Robert (Connie) Koch, Billings, MT and Thomas (Amy) Koch, Kalispell, MT; ten daughters: Clara Dowhaniuk, Belfield, Lorraine Schubert, Roy WA, Margaret Millen, Tacoma, WA, Anne West (Jerry), Bowman, ND, Paulette Inglehorn (Lynn), Forest Lake, MN, Marcella Olson (J. M. ) Watford, City, ND, Judy Palahniuk (Bernard), Fairfield, ND, Cynthia Elhart (Morris), Casper, WY, Nora Molm (Dennis), Billings, MT and Faye Turner, Columbia Falls, MT; 48 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. His parents, two brothers, four sisters, four son-in-laws and a great-granddaughter preceded him in death. Andrew was the last member of the Dennis Koch Family.
