A funeral Mass for Andrew Volesky, 81, of Dickinson will be 9:00 a. m. , Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation for Andrew will be 3:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary & Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Andrew passed away August 24, 2016 after a battle with COPD and cancer for 21 years. Andrew was born to Clement and Philomina (Holler) Volesky July 16, 1935 on a farm in Stark County and raised in Billings County. He attended grade school in New Hradec and Belfield and 2 year GED in Dickinson, ND. Early in life Andrew worked on various farm jobs, one year at Steffen Cabinet Shop and one year at Ruby Milling Elevator in Belfield. On Feb 10, 1958 Andrew married the love of his life, Louise Frederick, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton, ND and they were blessed with 5 boys and 2 girls. He then worked at Farmers Union Oil in Dickinson for 1½ years, G & R Disposal Co. for 3 years and then moved to Minot Air Force Base where he contracted a job in the sanitation department and worked there for 3 years. Andrew then moved to Fargo and went back to school at Hansen Trade School and got his Doctrine of Motors degree. He moved back to Dickinson and worked for Queen City Motors for 2 years, Stark Motors for 3 years and Lee’s Garage for 4 years before opening his own business, Andy’s Auto Service. Andrew ran the business for 25 years until he became disabled and he also worked part-time as a security guard for night clubs, weddings, and dances, etc. Andrew was an active member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church since 1966. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus 8839, a Golden Age member of the Eagles and past presidents club. Andrew’s greatest love of his life was his wonderful wife whom he loved and he enjoyed get-togethers with his children and grandchildren. He loved music (especially Old Time) and he enjoyed woodworking, especially with Red Cedar. Andrew loved gardening, hunting, fishing and traveling. He had traveled to 29 states, Mexico and Canada. Andrew and his wife Louise celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008. Andrew was a kind-hearted person and worked hard to please everyone. He also loved to collect toy tractors and make farm machinery, such as a hay rack, sleds, wagons, etc. Andrew found pleasure in playing cards, dice, his accordion, keyboard and going shopping. Andrew is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise; his children, Calvin of Eugene, OR, Curtis (Joyce) of Brighton, CO, Joan (Allen) Ott of Dickinson, ND, Geraldine (Dean) Kubas of Dickinson, ND, Cordell of Belfield, ND, Clyde (Roxana) of Sandy, OR and Casey (Judy) of Bismarck, ND; 17 grandchildren, Kristy, Roxann, Shawn, Christopher, Nicole, Amanda, Brian, Amber, Erin, Andrea, Andrew, Benjamin, Valerie, Dakota, Jeremy, Meghan, and Ryan; 12 great grandchildren, Natasha, Elizabeth, Alex, Isaiah, Jaden, Logan, Ethan, Harper, Carter, Neveah, Riker, Grady, and one on the way; his brother, Dominic (Ardyth) of Bismarck, ND; sisters, Wilma (Louis) Heidecker of Eugene, OR, Rita (Roger) Bamford of Eugene, OR and brother-in-law, Virgil Heidecker of Eugene, OR. Proceeded in death are his parents Clement and Philomina Volesky and sister, Angela Heidecker and infant sister, Gertrude Mary Volesky.
