Angela Duppong

A Funeral Mass for Angela Duppong, 93, of Glen Ullin, will be 10:00 a.m. CDT, Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.


Visitation for Angela will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p.m.


Angela passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Marian Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin, ND.


Angela Wehri was born February 11, 1919, near Haymarsh, ND, the daughter of W. F. (William) and Marcellena (Potts) Wehri. She was the third of eleven children and attended school through the eighth grade at St. Clements Catholic Church in Haymarsh. Angela then worked as a domestic maid in Mandan, ND before moving to Fort Jennings, Ohio with her sister Alma, to continue her work as a domestic maid. On October 2, 1945, Angela was united in marriage to Louis Duppong in Haymarsh. The couple moved to Tacoma, WA before purchasing their farm SE of Glen Ullin. To this union five children, Nadine, Maxine, Robert, Patrick, and Michael were born. The family farmed until 1959, then moved into Glen Ullin. Angela worked for Mary’s Cafe for several years and then worked many years for Geck’s Clothing Store and later the Family Clothing Store, until she retired. She enjoyed playing cards (especially pinochle), reading the newspaper and novels, listening to old time music, dancing, and movies. Angela loved gardening, the outdoors, fishing, and walks. At a young age, she loved riding horse and remembered a horse named Whiz. She was also good at shooting rifles. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, quilting, baking, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and bingo. Angela loved attending her grandchildren’s events and she will always be remembered for her wonderful cookies and pies. Angela was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where attendance of daily mass and recital of the rosary were very important to her. She served for many years as a sacristan for Sacred Heart Catholic Church and as a member of the Christian Mothers.


Angela is survived by her daughter, Maxine (David) Willman, Yankton, SD; sons, Robert (Marlene) Duppong, Owasso, OK; Patrick (Cynthia) Duppong, Rosemount, MN; and Michael (Mary) Duppong, Glen Ullin, ND; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alma Tavis and Bernice Wehri of Glen Ullin; Marcie Frueh, Glasgow, MT; two brothers, Waldo and Cletus Wehri of Glen Ullin.


She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis; daughter, Nadine Schneider; five brothers, Urban, Harry, Arnold, Armin and Sylvester Wehri.
