Sister Angeline (Isabel) Berger, OSB, 83, died peacefully at Saint Scholastica Convent, at 6 a. m. on May 24, 2007. Services were held at St. Joseph, MN. Sister Angeline, the ninth of Raphael and Mathilda (Lantz) Berger?s 13 children, was born March 13, 1924 on a wheat farm near Dickinson, ND. She attended the district school with a break of a half year at the Catholic School in Dickinson to prepare for her First Holy Communion, graduated in 1938 and helped her mother at home until she went to Saint Benedict?s Monastery on October 29, 1943. On June 21, 1944, she was received into the novitiate as Sister Angeline. She made first monastic profession on July 11, 1945, and perpetual monastic profession on July 11, 1948. Her golden jubilee in 1995 and 60-year anniversary in 2005 were happy celebrations. S. Angeline was a diligent worker in whatever ministry she found herself. Deeply devoted to prayer herself, in letters to family and friends she would encourage them to pray. Now, in her new home in heaven, we are assured that God will graciously lend an ear to her intercessions. S. Angeline is survived by the Sisters of her Benedictine community; one brother, George (Rosemary) Berger of Dickinson, ND; and one sister, Mathilda (Lee) Nielsen of Billings, MT. She was preceded in death by seven brothers: Raphael, Michael, Gabriel, Leo, Alphonse, John and Valentine Berger; and three sisters: Perpetua Berger, Marie Kilwein and Barbara Gress.
