Ann passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Park Avenue Villa in Dickinson, ND.
Ann Marie Healy was born on September 6, 1943, in Queens, New York, to Lester and Nellie (Hussey) Nicholson. After graduation from High School, she got a job with a local bank. When Ann was young, she faced the loss of both of her parents. In such a challenging time, she was blessed with a second family. Her parent's friends, Thomas and Florence Heaney, quickly stepped in and took Ann in as one of their own. She became part of their family and loved them as a mother and father and their children as her siblings.
Ann met Denis Healy, and after a short engagement, they married on January 14, 1967. The couple was blessed with three sons, Patrick, Timothy, and Kevin. Ann became a stay-at-home mom and raised her sons in their New York Apartment. She kept her boys busy with sports and even assisted the commissioner for their little league association. Once her children were grown, Ann began working as a Medical Clerk at an Optometrist's office. Ann and Denis moved into an apartment on the 23rd floor. Ann loved the panoramic view of the bustling New York streets. With her binoculars, she observed the Manhattan skyline, the bridges connecting the NYC boroughs, un-obstructed sunrises, , and police and fire responses.
After failing health, Ann moved in with her son, Kevin. In 2021, she became ill while visiting her son Patrick and family in Dickinson, North Dakota. Ann moved into St. Luke's Home for rehab and later made her home at Park Avenue Villa. The transition was initially hard for Ann, but she soon adjusted to the North Dakota way of life. She found a love for Rodeo and even bought herself a cowgirl hat to fit in. Ann made very many dear friends with the staff at Park Avenue. She loved to host pancake feeds for them, and in her true New York fashion, she would always "tip" them with a piece of good chocolate to show her appreciation.
Ann's love for her family was unwavering. She always attended all birthdays, sporting events, baptisms, and holidays. She was known for her picky eating habits, a trait she was proud of. If she didn't like something, she didn't pretend to. She was a thoughtful gift-giver, ensuring her family felt her love through her presents. She had a passion for 50's music, especially Elvis Presley. When she lived in New York, she could often be found at the local Blue Bay diner, catching up with friends. Ann was also known for her feisty nature, great sense of humor, being a rule follower, and appreciation for good etiquette. Ann's family is grateful to the staff at Park Avenue Villa for their friendship, love and making her feel at home.
Ann is survived by her sons, Patrick (Jill) Healy of Dickinson, ND, Kevin (Honey) Healy of Long Island, NY; grandchildren, Dyllan, Candice, Denise, Aiden, Ella, Adam, Lauren and Angeline Healy; sisters, Ellen (Ken) Maynard , Patricia (Eric) Anderson, Anne (Carl) Schroder all of Long Island, NY; and brother, Thomas (Mary) Heaney of Long Island, NY.
