Anna passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.

Anna Dolyniuk was born October 19, 1916 on the family homestead in Stark County, the daughter of Wasyl “Jim” and Agnes (Miluch) Dolyniuk. She grew up and attended school in Belfield, graduating from Belfield High School. Anna went on to get her teaching certificate. In her early years of teaching she taught at several country schools in Montana and North Dakota. She then returned to Belfield where she taught the majority of her years in elementary education. Anna retired after 47 years of teaching. Anna enjoyed some traveling. She traveled with her sister Mary to New York City in 1939 to see the World’s Fair. In later years they went to the Grand Canyon and hiked to the bottom and back up.  Anna took two trips to the Ukraine to connect with family and visit relatives she stayed in touch with throughout the years.

Anna was always a country girl at heart. She loved the open air, gardening and taking care of her farm animals, especially her exotic chickens. Teaching, reading, faith and family were very important to her. Anna lived on the family homestead until she was 98 years old. She then moved into Evergreen in Dickinson where she made her home for the next five years. She enjoyed playing scrabble where she was often known as the “scrabble queen.” She did not enjoy playing bingo. Anna was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary, St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield, and a member of UCI (Ukrainian Cultural Institute).

Anna is survived by her sister-in-law, Magdalena Dolyniuk; 12 nieces and 15 nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Nicholas, Steven, Pete, Harry, William, Philip, and Andrew; and sisters, Mary and Dorothy; and 6 nephews and 2 nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield.
