Funeral Mass for Anna Funk, 89, of Bismarck, formerly of Hebron, will be 11:00 a.m. (CDT) Thursday, July 5, 2012 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Hebron, ND, with Father Jeff Zwack, celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Hebron, ND.


Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (CDT) Thursday, July 5, 2012 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Hebron, ND.


Anna passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Home, Bismarck, ND.


Anna Maershbecker was born November 15, 1922 to Matt and Mary (Schneider) Maershbecker on the family farm in Dunn County. Anna grew up on the family farm and traveled by horse to attend the local country school. After her schooling, she continued to work on the farm for several years. On November 26, 1940, Anna married Adam Funk at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Hebron. The couple made their home on the family farm ten miles north of Hebron. It was here where they raised their six children. Anna was very active in the farm work and passed along her strong work ethic to her children. Anna and Adam retired to Dickinson, ND in 1977. While in Dickinson, the couple stayed very active with various organizations and activities such as, German Hungarian Club, card clubs, bowling, traveling and fishing with their camper. After Adam passed away, Anna moved to Bismarck to be closer to her children and made her home there ever since. Anna enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking as well as raising chickens and milking cows. Family and faith were very important to Anna. She will be remembered for her witty charm and good sense of humor.


Anna is survived by her two sons, James (Colleen) Funk, Hebron, ND; Bill (Cindy) Funk, Moorhead, MN; three daughters, Nancy (Larry) Haugen, Whitewater, WI; Janice (Delmer) Cole, Arvada, CO; Mary Ann (Clem) Benoit, Red Lake Falls, MN; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Hoselton, Red Lake Falls, MN; 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband Adam; both parents a son, Nick Funk; grandson, Eddy Benoit; a brother, Mathias Maershbecker; and two sisters, Elizabeth Schaffer and Clara Mugglie.
