Anna Maria Hellman

Funeral Mass for Anna Maria Hellman, 99, of Glen Ullin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. CT on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Gary Benz celebrating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery in rural Glen Ullin.

Visitation for Anna Maria will be at 10:00 a.m. CT on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 with a rosary being said at 10:30 a.m.

Anna Maria passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Marian Manor Healthcare in Glen Ullin.

Anna Maria was born on August 26, 1925, the third child of three to Joseph and Eva (Schwartz) Meier. As a young girl growing up, she attended school through the sixth grade.

Anna Maria married Thomas “Tom” Hellman on October 14, 1946, at St. Joseph’s Church. As a married couple, they began farming in the St. Joe area and then north of Glen Ullin. In 1955, they bought and ran a farm of their own seven miles southeast of St. Joe. Anna Maria and Tom were blessed with three sons, Gary, Tom, Robert and three daughters, Karen, Madonna and Bernadette. They raised their family and loved the farm way of life. In 1987 they retired and moved into Glen Ullin. Anna Maria was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was extremely proud of her family. 

Anna Maria enjoyed visiting, playing cards, collecting stamps, puzzles, gardening, and quilting. She was a member of Sacred Heart Christian Mothers.

Anna Maria is survived by her sons, Tom Jr. of Almont, Robert (Barb) of Lincoln, ND; daughters, Karen Hellman of Bismarck, Madonna Roth of Elgin, Bernadette (Ronald) Braun of Northwood; grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Braun (Troy Uglem), Aaron (Marissa) Braun, Candace (James) Thomas, Darin Braun, Angie Hellman (Ali Davis), seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eva Meier; husband, Tom Hellman Sr.; son, Gary; daughter-in-law, Donna; two infant sons, LaVerne and Joseph; son-in-law, Jerry Roth; brother, Christ Meier; sister, Monica Wolf; and one great-grandson, Jamison Braun.
