Anna Weiand

Funeral Mass for Anna Weiand, 97, of Glen Ullin, ND, will be 10:00 a. m. , CST, Monday, July 11, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin, ND with Father Arul Joseph celebrating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Glen Ullin, ND. Visitation for Anna will be from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. CST, Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. CST. Anna passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Marian Manor in Glen Ullin, ND. Anna Martin was born November 12, 1913 in the Blue Grass area, the daughter of George and Mary (Kaip) Martin, Sr. She grew up on the family farm, working there through and after school. On April 27, 1934, Anna married Edmond Weiand at St. Benedict. The couple farmed for several years before moving to Glen Ullin, where she had made her home ever since. Along with raising her family, Anna helped Ed run their two bars in town. Anna enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, cross word puzzles and playing pinchole. She liked to drive around Glen Ullin and the surrounding area and was known to many as the ?Cookie Lady?. Anna loved listening to music as well as singing to her children. Anna is survived by the two sons, Gary (Joan) Weiand of Glen Ullin, ND and Allan (Mary Ann) Weiand of Wahpeton, ND; two daughters, Adeline (Ray) Diede of Glen Ullin, ND and Cora Weiand of Fort Thompson, SD; one son-in-law, Steve Donoghue of Holyke, MA; one sister, Louise Schultz of Billings, MT; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Martin, Sr. ; her husband, Edmund Weiand; one daughter, Janice Donaghue; one granddaughter Kathy Donoghue; two brothers, Frank and George Martin: and two sisters Helen Weiand and Mary Kastner.
