Anne passed away Monday, August 2, 2010, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson. Anne Wenko was born on October 6, 1916, to Stephen and Margaret (Ernst) Putschler at Hirschville, ND. She grew up and attended school in Gladstone, ND, and later attended Dickinson State Teacher?s College in Dickinson, ND. Due to no jobs available, Anne went to Chicago where she worked as a governess for several years and later worked as a sales lady and hostess in The Walnut Tea Room for Marshall Field and Co. On February 8, 1942, Anne married Sam F. Wenko at the Assumption Abbey in Richardton, ND. Together they raised four children. Anne loved to try new recipes, and always had something baked and in the freezer (cookies or bars) for whoever stopped in for coffee. When her kids were young, she often had fresh-baked bread ready after school. She also enjoyed knitting dishcloths. In her later years, she enjoyed hearing the Rosary on TV. Anne had very organized files, and had everything just so. She was a member of the Bridge Club, St. Anne?s Study Club, St. Joseph?s Auxiliary, Christian Mothers, and Catholic Daughters, and also volunteered at the St. Joseph?s Hospital Gift Shop. Anne is survived by three children, Linda Johnson-Harris, Bismarck, ND, Rodney (Paulette) Wenko, Dickinson, ND, and Rodger (Lucy) Wenko, Williston, ND; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her daughter, Betty Lou; and seven siblings, Tony Putschler, Steve Putschler, Pete Putschler, Eddie Putschler, Rose Blaumer, Evelyn Trent, and Marge Pepin.
