Tony was born on August 16, 1933 in Billings County to Anthony Krance, Sr. and Mary (Pedeleski) Krance. He grew up southwest of South Heart and attended the Zenith Country School till the 8th grade. On June 18, 1956 he married Maggie Greff in Dickinson. Together they farmed and raised their family southwest of South Heart. Along with farming, he attended Western School of Auctioneering in Billings, MT and became an auctioneer. In 1969, Tony and his family began Krance Auction Service. Two of his sons later joined the business as auctioneers. This fact made Tony very proud. He loved to auction and did so up until the time of his death. Besides being inducted into the ND Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 2004, he was on the board of directors for Southwest Grain, a member of the ND and National Auctioneers Associations, a K of C member since 1963, and won the North Dakota Champion Merchandise Auctioneer in 1977. He also served as a member of the St. Anthony Club, the Eagles Club, and Toastmasters.
Mostly, Tony was noted for his exceptional memory of birthdays, anniversaries, and special events of his many friends, family, and neighbors. He loved to tell stories and jokes, always had a smile on his face and a word of cheer for anyone who called or stopped by to visit. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and always wanted to know what and how they were doing in their lives.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie of South Heart; sons Steve, Gordy (Stephoni), Greg (Marsha) of South Heart, Jim of Brighton, CO, and Shawn of Dickinson; one daughter Brenda (Kevin) Volesky of Belfield and a son in law, Russ Weber of Dickinson, one sister, Kathy (Ron) Knudston, Pittsburgh, CA; 13 grandchildren, Heidi (Jon) Mehlhoff, Holly, Heather, Hope and Haylee Volesky, Tiffani (Tim) Morman, Shane and Tracey Weber, Caleb, Jordan and Janessa Strecker and Brittni and Bayli Krance.
