Anton was born May 28, 1922 in Yucca, ND the son of Emma (Pfliger) and Victor Friesz. He grew up and attended school at the Bremen country school. Tony began farming with his father at a young age. On June 14, 1949, Tony and Clementine I. Pfliger were united in marriage at St. Martin’s Church in Center. To this union six children were born: Sandra, Roger, Duane, Karen, Michael, and Audrey. Together they began farming west of Center for a short time before moving to Clementine’s parents’ farm six miles north of Hannover. They lived there until 1968, when they moved back to the Friesz family farm southeast of Center. Together, Tony and Clementine raised their family and farmed until 1984 when they retired and moved into New Salem. Tony could always find time for fishing and working on wood projects. He enjoyed playing cards, reading, and having coffee with neighbors and friends. Tony also loved playing the accordion and dancing.

Tony is survived by his wife, Clementine of New Salem; sons, Roger (Carolyn) of Idaho Falls, ID, Duane (Joana) and Michael (Melissa) both of New Salem; daughters, Sandra (Lee) Orgaard of Center, Karen (David) Porsborg of New Salem, and Audrey Montileaux of Black Hawk, SD; three sisters, Ann (Harold) Hoff of Mandan, Sally (John) Anderson of Bismarck and Emily Leichtnam of Minneapolis, MN; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
