A Funeral Mass for Anton “Tony” Heidt, 93, of Dickinson, will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2012 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dickinson. Military Rites will be presented by the Dickinson Honor Guard.
Visitation for Tony will be 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary led by St. Pius Verein and a Vigil service led by Deacon Bob Stockert at 7:00 p.m.
Tony passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.
Anton S. Heidt was born on April 23, 1919 in Dickinson, the son of Roy and Veronica (Olheiser) Heidt. He grew up and attended grade school at St. Joseph’s School in Dickinson and completed one year of high school. Tony enlisted with the Army Infantry on March 20, 1942 at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota. He served in Europe, being honorably discharged as a Corporal on August, 9, 1945 from Camp McCoy, Minnesota. Tony was united in marriage to Ann Hutzenbiler at Gaylord on November 27, 1945. To this union, Margery, Anton, Betty, Arlene, Darlene, James, Rosalie, Margaret and Louis were born. The couple farmed near Gaylord from 1945 to 1987. After retiring, they moved to Dickinson, making it their home ever since. In his pastime, Tony enjoyed woodworking, reading, playing cards, and gardening. He especially loved his family gatherings and get togethers. Tony was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the VFW and St. Pius Verein.
Tony is survived by his six daughters, Margery (Wayne) Wyckoff of Casagranda, AZ, Betty Singer of Richardton, ND, Arlene (Bernard) Evans of Glendive, MT, Darlene (Peter) Schmitt of Manning, ND, Rosalie (Bob) Kubas of Dickinson, ND, Margaret (Tom) Anderson of Chisholm, MN; three sons, Anton P. (Renae) Heidt and James (Blanche) Heidt of Dickinson, ND and Louis (Verla) Heidt of Stanton, ND; 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild; two sisters, Dorothy Huck of Moorhead, MN, and Loretta (John) Stoltz of Dickinson; two brothers, Vincent (Cilie) Heidt of Delevan, WI, and Roy (Shirley) Heidt of Livingston, MT.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ann; four brothers, John, George, Leo and Ralph; two sisters, Celestine Roller and Veronica Dukart; two grandsons, Brian and Michael; and one great-grandson, Christopher.
