Funeral Mass for Anton J. “Tony” Jilek, 78, will be 10:00 a. m. , Friday, August 20, 2010, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Jim Braaten officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m.
Tony passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson.
Anton J. “Tony” Jilek was born February 16, 1932, to Anton F. and Sophie (Sykora) Jilek on the family farm north of Dickinson. Tony grew up on the family farm and attended school at St. Patrick’s Grade School in Dickinson, ND. After school, he continued to work on the family farm. On March 1, 1954, Tony married Margaret M. Rambousek at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, ND. The couple made their home on a farm near the Versippi area northeast of Dickinson. It was here where they raised their three children, Gary, Linda, and Kaye. Tony operated the farm and dairy for a number of years before going to work for Fisher Sand and Gravel. He also worked for Flint Industries until he retired. He spent the remainder of his life on the farm. Tony enjoyed boating and fishing at Lake Sakakawea, refurnishing antique furniture, and visiting with family and friends.
Tony is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret, Dickinson, ND; one son, Gary (Carol) Jilek, Dickinson, ND; two daughters, Linda (Brian) Schroeder, Dickinson, ND, and Kaye (Rick) Vincent, Fairhaven, MA; five grandkids, Dustin Davis, Billings, MT, Melissa Owen, CT, Dakota Rose, Dickinson, ND, Brandt (Tanya) Dick, Bismarck, ND, and Brandon Vincent, Fairhaven, MA; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Davis and Jovani Owen; one brother, Wayne (Diane) Jilek, Dickinson, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Lucas Allan Jilek; and a great-grandchild.
