Funeral services for Arleen M. Richardson, 74, of Billings, MT formerly of Miles City, MT will be 11:00 a. m. , Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Grace Bible Church in Miles City, MT with Pastor Jerry Coon and Pastor Bruce Kissee officiating. Burial will be in the Custer County Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. , Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home, Miles City, MT with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Arleen passed away Friday, August 28, 2009 at her home in Billings, MT. Arleen Richardson was born November 14, 1934, the youngest of four children of Art and Violet (Price) Kolka at Miles City, Montana. She grew up on the family ranch located near Stacey, Montana, and attended grade school at the South Stacey School, a one room school house. Transportation to school was by horseback. Arleen attended high school in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School in 1951. She attended one year of business college in Billings and returned to Miles City where she was a legal secretary for five years for Hugh Lemire. On October 4, 1953, Arleen and Dick Richardson, also of Miles City, were married. Two children were born, Tami in 1958, and Jeff in 1960. The family continued to live in Miles City until 1967 when they moved to the Twin Cities area where they resided for thirty years. Arleen continued her work as a legal secretary for Loren Gross for thirty years. Arleen and Dick retired to Arizona in 1999, living first in the Phoenix area, and ultimately built a new home in the White Mountains of Arizona. Health issues at an altitude of 7800 feet caused them to make a move to a lower elevation and they decided to return to Montana and settled in Billings. She is survived by her husband, Dick, of almost 56 years, Billings, MT; her children Tami and husband, Jonas Runquist, Edina, MN and son Jeff and wife, Kathy, Lakeville, MN; her brothers Donald and his wife, Mary Rose, Volborg, MT and Cecil and his wife, Delores; Volborg, MT, numerous nieces and nephews, and two special nieces, Melissa Tschimperle, Cheyenne, WY and Linda Rodgers, Ashland, MT. Arleen was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy.
