Arlene passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Hilltop Home of Comfort in Killdeer.
Arlene Kay Dvorak was born in Dickinson, ND at St. Joseph’s Hospital on September 18, 1957 to Laudie L. and Martha (Binstock) Dvorak. She had one sister, Doreen, and two brothers, Richard L. and Bob L. She grew up on the family farm/ranch in Dunn County.
Arlene went to farm school until the 4th grade and then in 5th grade attended school at St. Wenceslaus in Dickinson. Later she attended Dickinson High School where she graduated in 1976.
Arlene enjoyed milking cows, helping in the garden, mowing the lawn, and picking eggs on the farm. She was a great help around the house, baking and cooking, especially cookies.
After graduation, she moved to Dickinson doing various jobs. She then moved to Killdeer and was a caregiver to the elderly. In 1983 her parents moved to Dunn Center and she moved with them to help care for her parents and work in their grocery store. Arlene also worked part-time at the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer.
In June of 1990, Arlene married Ray Brunmeier, and the two made their home in Halliday.
Although Arlene never had any children of her own, she was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews. In 2011, Arlene was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and moved into the Hill Top Home of Comfort briefly before moving into Knife River Nursing Care Center for 3 years, and returning to Hill Top Home of Comfort for the remainder of her days.
When visiting Arlene, she always had a big smile on her face as she would tell you “I know you, do you know me?” and she would talk to you for hours.
