Polly passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Hilltop Home of Comfort.
Polly was born October 8, 1941 in Mercer County to John and Ella (Klundt) Maier. She graduated from Beulah High School in 1959, and then went on to get her cosmetology license. Polly moved to Killdeer where she worked as a hairdresser. Polly met George Tabor at a dance and they were married, March 17, 1964 in Belle Fourche, SD. To this union four children were born, Greg, Andrea, Joe and Amy. They moved to the ranch North of Killdeer in the spring of 1966 where she worked the ranch with her husband and children. Once the kids were older Polly worked outside of the home; one of her favorite jobs was dealing blackjack. Polly later took a job at KMM where she worked until retirement.
After retirement George and Polly moved to Beulah where they lived until she eventually moved to Hilltop Home of Comfort in Killdeer.
Polly was known to have something freshly baked waiting for her kids when they got off the bus. She loved spending time with her family, playing pinochle and board games, especially The Farming Game. Summers she could be found in her garden and in the fall she was busy canning. Everyone loved her German cooking and her Knoephla soup was a favorite. Polly was in a bowling league, a member of the Homemaker’s Club and of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Polly is survived by her sons, Greg (Lori) Tabor; grandsons: Garett (Lindsey), Derek, and Dylan of Killdeer, ND, Joe (Sharon) Tabor; granddaughter: Ashley (Anthony) of Copperas Cove, TX; daughters, Andrea Anderson; grandkids: Dustin, (Teresa) Jordan, and Koeyn of Minot, ND; Amy (Mike) Kirchgessner; grandsons: Kaden and Ashton of Concord, NC; great-grandchildren, Tyce, Masyn, Ryder, Carson, Christian, Adalynn, Brayden, Cole, Piper; siblings, Josie(Link) Reinhiller, Betty(Noel) Helm of Beulah, ND.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ella; and husband, George Tabor.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch – Minot, or Home on the Range for Boys and Girls – Sentinel Butte.
