Funeral Services for Arline Rotvold, 91, of Dickinson, formerly of Amidon, will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dickinson with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday at the Bowman Cemetery in Bowman, North Dakota.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, continuing on Monday one hour prior to the service at St. John Lutheran Church, Dickinson, ND.
Arline passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson. Arline Rotvold was born in Miles City, Montana on July 19th, 1920, daughter of Robert A. and May (Clouse) Weigum. At age 3 1/2 years, she moved with her family to her grandfather’s farm southwest of Dickinson, ND. In 1929, the family moved to a ranch northwest of Amidon, and this is where she grew up. She graduated from Belfield High School in 1938 and attended Business College in Bismarck. Arline was employed by the (USDA) Farm Security and Farmers Home Administrations for twelve years (1938-1950). Later she worked for the law firm of Bangert and Bangert in Enderlin, ND. Arline married Gilmar Rotvold of Halstad, Minnesota on June 16, 1945. They farmed in the Hillsboro and Enderlin areas, moving to Valley City in 1991 and to Dickinson in 2000. Arline enjoyed reading the Bible and she could quote scripture. She also loved to read and sew. Her greatest love was for her husband, Gilmar.
Arline is survived by her husband, Gilmar; four sisters, Ruth Shaw and Doris (John) Washburn of Belle Fourche, SD, Christine Olson of Boise, ID, Mae McDanold of Beach, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
