Funeral Mass for Arthur ?Butch? Streitmatter, 80, of Glen Ullin, will be 10:00 a. m. CDT, on Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Arul Joseph Celebrating. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Glen Ullin. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. MDT at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, Thursday, September 30, 2010. Visitation will continue from 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. CDT at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. CDT. Butch passed away, Monday, September 27, 2010 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, North Dakota. Butch was born October 11, 1929 in Glen Ullin, the son of John and Anna (Schneider) Streitmatter. Butch grew up and attended school in town, graduating from Glen Ullin High School in 1947. He worked for his father at Occident Elevator for several years before enlisting in the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Glen Ullin where he resumed working at the grain elevator. It was during this time that he met Mildred ?Mitzi? Weiand. The couple married on June 10, 1953 in Glen Ullin. They made their home in Glen Ullin where they raised their family. Butch owned and operated the feed and grain elevator for 30 plus years before retiring. After his retirement from the elevator, he began working at the Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson and continued to be a fixture there for the next 16 years. Family was very important to Butch and he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren as much as possible. Butch enjoyed hunting and fishing and was able to take many fishing trips to Canada; however, golf was always his passion. He was fundamental in starting Crossroads Golf Course in Glen Ullin. Butch was an avid supporter of the Glen Ullin Rattlers and was the former Chief of the Glen Ullin Fire Department. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and Elks. Butch is survived by his wife, Mitzi; one son, Kent (Maria) Streitmatter, Miles City, MT; two daughters, LeeAnn Streitmatter, Bismarck and Jill (Darin) Rogers, Missoula, MT; one brother, Allan (Elaine) Streitmatter, Polson, MT; one sister, Ethelyn Wilmes, Lake Havasu, AZ; three grandchildren, Ricco Streitmatter, Mariah Rogers and Lee Rogers and numerous nieces and nephews. Butch was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Streitmatter and one brother-in-law, Art Wilmes. The family prefers memorials to the Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson and Cross Roads Golf Course in Glen Ullin.
