Arvin passed away Monday, October 10, 2011 at Lakewood Care Center, Staples, MN, three days shy of celebrating the sixty-fifth wedding anniversary with his wife.

Arvin Lores Guenther was born June 21, 1926 on his parents’ farm north of New Leipzig, ND, the son of Christian and Wilma (Haas) Guenther. Here he was raised, and later purchased the family farm. Arvin married Edna A. Klein on October 13, 1946 at the Neuburg Congregational Church, Burt, ND. They farmed in this area until 1959 when they moved to Dickinson, ND. Arvin worked as the district manager for Keltgen Seed Co. for thirty-seven years. Arvin will be remembered for his enjoyment of hunting, fishing, camping, dancing, and snowmobiling with his family and friends. When Arvin worked, he worked hard, but he knew how to enjoy life. In retirement, Arvin found great joy in working along side of his children on the family farm. He developed a new hobby in collecting and displaying miniature farm equipment. However, to sit down for a home-cooked German meal with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the real delight of his life. Even while in the care center, he still made trips out to the field to check the crops. He never stopped asking about the people he loved, and about the farm.

Grateful for having shared in Arvin’s life are his wife, Edna, of Staples, MN, his children, Reland “Jaye” Guenther, Denver, CO, Rynell (Dale) Schock, Staples, MN, and Rachel (Ken) Brew, Billings, MT; Grandchildren Stacy (John) Torres, Michael Guenther, Chris (Kara) Schock, Jessica (Joshua) Schafer, Andrew (Kristin) Schock, Julia (John) Amundson, Weston Brew, Kate Brew, and Jackson Brew; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Della Krein, Bernice Achtenberg, Marlys Berg, and Alice Fuerstenberg; one brother, Curtis Guenther; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Edna and Delores, and brother Rueben.

His extended family at Lakewood Care Center went beyond simply providing care to sharing love and devotion which brought pure joy to Arvin and his family.
