Audrey passed away June 25, 2003, at her home in Stanton, North Dakota. Audrey was born August 14, 1941, in Bowman, ND to Raymond and Inez (Peckens) Rue. She grew up and attended schools in Rhame and graduated from Rhame High School in 1959. Audrey then moved to Baker and began working for the telephone company as an operator. During this time Audrey had four children: Toby, Collette, Evan & Stuart. Audrey later went to work for Fallon County Welfare Office and the Fallon County Treasurers Office. In 1999, she met Earl Souther and a friendship grew into a love affair. They were married on April 7, 2001 in Baker. The couple has made their home in Stanton since that time. Audrey enjoyed reading to her children and grandchildren, visiting with friends, talking on the phone, planting and picking flowers, playing piano, cards and games. Audrey also enjoyed singing in community and church choirs. She was active in American Lutheran Church and Choir as well as Our Savior?s Lutheran Church. ?Serving the Lord, Our Father has been a joy in my life? Audrey would say. Audrey is survived by her husband, Earl of Stanton; two sons, Toby (Terry) Hurley of Baker, Stuart (Mandi) Hurley of Meridian, ID; a daughter, Collette (Russ) Maw of Eugene, OR; two step sons, Kris Souther of Stanton, Kane Souther of Hazen; a step daughter, Lana (Cecil) Coffman of Trinidad, CO; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Tim Rue of Buffalo, SD and Dean Rue of Littleton, CO. Her parents, one son, Evan and one brother, Roger Rue, preceded her in death. Memorials can be made to American Lutheran Church or Our Savior?s Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
