Funeral Services for August Zastoupil, 82, of Dickinson will be 2:00 p. m. , Thursday, July 1, 2010, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Jim Braaten celebrating. Burial will follow at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. , Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Visitation will continue from 5:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. August passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at the home he proudly built in Dickinson, with his family by his side. August T. Zastoupil was born July 17, 1927 to Stephen and Mary (Kostelecky) Zastoupil in Dickinson, ND. He grew up and attended school at St. Joseph?s Catholic Grade School. He later worked for Nash-Finch Grocery for several years before entering into the United States Army Air Corps. August was honorably discharged and returned home to Dickinson. He worked road construction for several years before working for George Steffes in his cabinet shop. On September 26, 1949 August married Bernice Wandler at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Dickinson. The couple was blessed with four children. In 1954, August and Bernice opened August?s Cabinet Shop. They proudly produced custom cabinets throughout southwestern North Dakota until August retired in 1978, at which time his son, Marvin, continued the business. August enjoyed working with his hands, creating things out of both wood and metal. He was very fond of new cars and was always looking for his next one. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. August was a member of the Eagles, Catholic Workmen, German Hungarian Club, St. Anthony Club, St. Pius Verein, and Veteran of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bernice; children, Marvin (Heidi) Zastoupil, Judy (Dale) Burwick, and Pamela (Larry) Melchior, all of Dickinson; grandchildren, Robi Zastoupil, Ryan (Liz) Zastoupil, Troy Zastoupil, Candace (Adrian) Friedt, and Courtney Burwick, all of Dickinson; great-grandchildren, Kara and Kacie; brother, Steven Zastoupil, New Town, ND; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Art) Ridl, Dickinson; sisters-in-law, Francis Zastoupil, Idaho; and Eleanor Zastoupil of Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diane; brothers Laudie, Vincent (Charlotte), and Adolf.
